Spectacled Eider in the Netherlands

One of the most extraordinary rarities to be found in Europe last winter was a male Spectacled Eider that spent several months around the island of Texel in the Netherlands.

The bird disappeared in the Spring, however, we have heard in the last few days that it has returned and if it is still present when our “Dutch Wild Goose Chase” runs next February then looking for this stunning bird will certainly be on the agenda.
