Hungary: Winter Geese, Wallcreeper and Woodpeckers Trip Report
Limosa’s new early winter trip to Hungary proved to be a considerable success with the group have a fantastic time exploring the country’s celebrated Hortobágy National Park and a number of other sites within this wildlife-rich country.
As well as finding the beautiful Red-breasted Goose and endangered Lesser White-fronted at Hortobágy, Greater Spotted and Eastern Imperial Eagles, Saker Falcon, Great Bustard and thousands of Common Cranes were all seen there before a fantastic encounter with the ‘must see’ Wallcreeper. Seven species of woodpeckers were also found including Black, Syrian and Middle-spotted and there were great views of Eagle, Ural and Long-eared Owl.
