Global Birdfair 2026
Last weekend saw many birders head to Rutland for the annual Global Birdfair and once again main organisers Tim and Penny Appleton did an amazing job. Despite Friday being extremely warm in the marquees, the event was a stunning success and will hopefully raise a considerable sum for conservation work on Sao Tome which is where the profits will be sent later this year.
It was a real pleasure to meet up with so many clients and friends and the level of interest shown in our tours was extremely encouraging. The Birdfair saw the launch of the new brochure for Limosa and WildWings so if you would like a copy of this, please contact the office and we will happily post you one, however, our website remains the best location to find the most detailed information about all our tours.
Limosa was proud to continue being the main conservation sponsor of the event and ten NGOs were able to attend the event at a heavily subsidised rate as a result of our support. These included the four regional bird clubs (Neotropical Birding and Conservation, African Bird Club, Oriental Bird Club and Ornithological Society of the Middle East) as well as Fair Isle and Spurn Bird Observatories and the Bird Observatories Council. Many of these organisations told us that without our funding they would have been unable to attend so it was great to see them there and raising funds for their respective charities.
The Birdfair also saw the launch of a number of new tours including a world first mammal-focused cruise to the Rio Aripuana in 2029 which despite being almost three years off has only a handful of places left. Please check out the WildWings website if you are interested in joining this.
We also had a number of special offers available at the fair including a £500 discount for new bookings on our January 2027 trip to Thailand (Limosa), as well as our September 2026 trip to China to look for Snow Leopards, Pallas’s Cats and Chinese Red Pandas (WildWings). This, plus a 7% discount on Birding Down Under 2027, will remain open until 30 July 2026 so contact the office if you wish to take advantage of any of these special offers.
