Falsterbo – interim report from Limosa’s new Sweden tour

Limosa’s new 5-night tour to the Swedish migration hotspot of Falsterbo concluded a few days ago and guide Christopher Hall reports that a total of 95 species were recorded. Twelve species of raptors were noted including some close Eurasian Honey Buzzards as well as Ospreys, Hobbies, Merlins and impressive numbers of Sparrowhawks.

The group also enjoyed some nice views of Caspian Terns, as well as migrants such as Red-backed Shrike and large flocks of Coal Tits.  Christopher also took the group to a site where they had some stunning views of Black Woodpecker with the photo below demonstrating how close the bird was !!!

This relaxed tour will run again in September 2026 and details will soon be posted on our website.  If you wish to register your interest in advance, however, please contact the office.
