Sav Saville
Sav was born and brought up in London and started birding in the early 1970s and was fairly active in the British twitching/birding scene until he first moved to New Zealand in 1989. He settled there permanently in 1996 and was soon appointed the Regional Bird Recorder for the area where he lived (a little to the north of Wellington).
He has now been guiding bird tours for over twenty years and we are delighted to have him on the Limosa team, as he is unquestionably one of the most experienced bird guides in New Zealand.
Sav has served on the New Zealand Rarities Committee for over a decade and one of his ‘claims to fame’ was being the first person to see the supposedly extinct New Zealand Storm Petrel when this was rediscovered in 2003.
