John McLoughlin

Johnny lives in Yorkshire, UK, his home county where he has been birding since boyhood. Along the way he caught the travel bug which led to a 25-year career leading bird tours for Bird Holidays before he joined the Limosa/WildWings team in 2022.

Johnny developed a love for birds of the east and latterly the Neotropics and has led birdwatching tours to many destinations. Amongst his favourites are Georgia and Armenia, the Baltic States of Estonia and Latvia and, further afield, Colombia and Panama. Connections with local people, the bird and wildlife guides and their communities are equally important to him.

His other links to the world of birdwatching include a long stint with In Focus the birding optics specialists as well as many short-term contracts with the RSPB. He likes to combine his birding with conservation work and more recently he can be found on the moors and dales of Yorkshire surveying breeding Curlews and other upland breeding birds.
