A birder since his teens, Colin's first forays into overseas birding were to Majorca, Austria, Greece and Morocco, before the draw of the tropics became irresistible. From the mid-nineties, Colin immersed himself in Latin America and its vast avifauna, becoming a frequent visitor there (particularly Peru and Brazil) and leading many tours to the 'Bird Continent' over the last twenty years.
A short break from tour leading, working as a freelance ornithologist for ecology consultancies, fuelled Colin's passion for birding in Scotland where he spent many winter months around the Solway and Argyll coast.
But it wasn't long before he returned to tour guiding, leading Limosa's tours to Thailand, Taiwan, Costa Rica, Brazil, Argentina and Morocco as well as many European destinations.
With a keen interest in migration, Colin now lives near Spurn, one of the UK's 'hotspots', with his wife Angie and their two Chocolate Labradors. Our February 2019 and 2020 Classic Costa Rica tours will be Colin's ninth and tenth visits to Costa Rica and his 20th and 21st tours to Central America.
