Spain: Sierras and Strait trip report
Limosa's most recent "Sierras and Strait" tour to Andalucia in southern Spain concluded recently and the trip was highly successful with an impressive range of species being seen.
Led by Limosa's popular Spanish leader, Fernando Enrique Navarrete, one of the main goals of the holiday is to enjoy the southbound migration, especially of birds of prey and vultures. Making use of his expert local knowledge, Fernando was able to take the group to several locations where they not only saw hundreds of eagles and vultures heading towards the Strait of Gibraltar but also enjoyed some incredibly close views with multiple stunning encounters with, for example, Egyptian Vultures and Booted Eagles.
The group also explored a number of birding sites away from the migration hotspots seeing a great selection of special birds including Marbled and White-headed Ducks, Little Swift, Red-knobbed Coot, Audouin's Gull, Lesser Crested and Elegant Terns, Northern Bald Ibis, Ruppell's Griffon Vulture, Black Wheatear, Spanish Sparrow and Rock Bunting.
The trip report and systematic list have now been added to the website and for a copy of this please click here or to read about the 2025 holiday please click here.
