Brian Small

After a career in teaching, Brian 'left school' in 2013 to work full time in the Limosa office as our Operations & Media Manager - when he’s not away guiding our trips that is! He has travelled widely around the globe and is the inspiration behind a wide diversity of Limosa holidays, including those to Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, India, Italy, Sicily, Portugal, Madeira and Kuwait.

Brian is also a talented bird artist - examples of his work can be seen in the acclaimed Handbook of the Birds of the World (HBW), and the Helm Field Guide Birds of Madagascar and the Indian Ocean - and his current projects include illustrative work on major new guides to birds in Brazil, and various parts of Africa.

Happily, he has lately recovered from a previous affliction that saw him sifting through gull flocks on the local pig fields - something of a solitary occupation we’re told! - and he now concentrates on working his local patch on the Suffolk coast, where he lives with his wife Janet and their teenage son Ben.

Brimming with infectious enthusiasm and with a loyal following of Limosa 'regulars', Brian has been guiding tours for us since 2002. Along with Limosa partners Chris and Barbara Kightley, he also leads the majority of our guided BirdWalks in Norfolk and Suffolk, too.

Brian will be leading on the following tours:
